Speaking today, the Foreign Secretary said:

I condemn the unacceptable attack on a checkpoint in Volnovakha in Eastern Ukraine this morning. Our sympathies are with the families of those killed. Despite this appalling provocation, we call on the Ukrainian government to continue its policy of restraint. The armed separatists who are continuing to terrorise the people of Luhansk and Donetsk must not be allowed to deny Ukrainians their right to vote.
