On 15-17 December, 2012 The Fukushima Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Safety was held in Koriyama, Fukushima Prefecture with calls for continuous improvement and vigilance to further strengthen nuclear safety worldwide. //
The Conference, organized by Japan in co-sponsorship with the IAEA
Ukrainian delegation headed by Director of Strategy, Investment and Nuclear Energy Department, Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Mr. Mykyta Konstantinov attended the Conference.
The principal objective of this international ministerial conference is to contribute to strengthening nuclear safety worldwide. The Conference provided another opportunity to share with the international community, at the ministerial and expert levels, further knowledge and lessons learned from the accident at TEPCO's Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Station; to further enhance transparency; and to discuss the progress of international efforts aimed at strengthening nuclear safety, including through the implementation of the IAEA Action Plan on Nuclear Safety, as well as of measures to protect people and the environment from ionizing radiation.
Some 117 countries and 13 international organizations attended the Conference, which aimed to share knowledge and lessons from the Fukushima Daiichi accident, further enhance transparency and discuss the progress of international efforts to strengthen nuclear safety.
Mr. Mykyta Konstantinov delivered the statement at the plenary session at the ministerial level.
Head of Ukrainian delegation along with colleagues from other states took part in the Site Tour to TEPCO’s Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Station.
