On September 28-29, the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan with the assistance of the Japan-Ukraine Art Association organized workshops of Ukrainian Petrykivka which were held during the "Global Festa JAPAN 2019" Cultural Festival in Odaiba, Tokyo.
More than 100 people, including representatives of Japan, Argentina, China, Madagascar, the USA, Chile and Ukraine, took part in workshops conducted by Ukrainian folk artist from the village of Petrykivka, Dnipropetrovsk region, Ms. Galyna Nazarenko. Visitors to the Ukrainian booth were provided with the information on the history and techniques of the Petrykivka painting, which is a unique example of ancient Ukrainian art. During conversation with the participants of the workshops, Ms. Nazarenko noted that cultural diplomacy is a matter of her life, and expressed her hope for further strengthening of relations between the Ukrainian and Japanese peoples.
As part of Petrykivka's presentation in Japan, on September 29 and October 2, workshops for children were also held at the Ukrainian School "Dzhereltse" and the Japanese Elementary School Kogai in Tokyo.
The Embassy of Ukraine to Japan expresses its gratitude to Ms. Nazarenko for giving presentations and master classes of the Ukrainian Petrykivka to the Japanese public.
