On June 6, 2011, on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine, Ambassador of Ukraine in Japan Mykola Kulinich delivered a lecture before students and professors of the Meiji University in Tokyo, one of the most prestigious private establishments of higher education in Japan, which was founded in 1881.

In his lecture “Ukraine: 20 years on the path of Independence”, the Ambassador outlined Ukraine's place in the world, especially the historical, cultural and political development of our country, spoke about the positive changes in Ukraine's economy and economic reforms of President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych, introduced the state and perspectives of Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation and mentioned parallels between the cultures of two states, depicted similarity of some traditions and habits our nations.

He paid more attention to the coverage of the achievements during the Independence of Ukraine.

At the end of his speech, the Ambassador answered the questions of students and teachers.
