On 9 August, 2011 during an official ceremony at the Nuclear Emergency Response Headquarters in Fukushima, Ambassador of Ukraine in Japan Mykola Kulinich, on behalf of the Government of Ukraine, has handed over to head of mentioned headquarters, Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Mr. Kaname Tajima the individual radiological protection means as humanitarian aid.
On behalf of the Government of Japan, the Vice Minister showed the sincere gratitude for the assistance of Ukraine. The Ambassador expressed the deep condolences to families of those who lost their dear ones and words of support and wishes of speedy recovery to all the victims. Also he pointed out that the Government of Ukraine would be ready to consider any official approaches of the Japanese Government on the providing of assistance to Japan in overcoming the consequences of the Great East Japan Earthquake, tsunami and the accident at the NPP Fukushima Dai-ichi.
By the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan initiative, the Ukrainian diplomat visited the evacuated IItate village administrative office temporary located in Fukushima where he handed over some part of the humanitarian aid, first of all dosimeters-radiometers and information materials representing Ukraine as well.
At the request of the Japanese leadership and in fulfillment of an instruction from the Ukrainian President the humanitarian aid has delivered at Narita Airport on Thursday, August 4, 2011.
The relief supplies consist of:
• Gas masks (Universal Protection System KV - with additional gas mask filter) 1000 pieces;
• Personal dosimeters DKT-21 - «Ekotest CARD» - 1000 pieces;
• Dosimeters-radiometers МКС – 05 «ТЕRRА» - 1000 pieces.
