During the meeting the sides discussed the current state of Ukrainian-Japanese relations. //
In this regard T.Kawai stressed on the importance of the visit of President of Ukraine V.Yanukovych (January 2011) and the Joint Statement on Ukraine-Japan Global Partnership from viewpoint of development of the whole spectrum of bilateral relations. In the course of meeting it was emphasized the need to intensify the political dialogue between our states, particularly by means of realization of the visit of Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan F.Kishida to Ukraine this year.
Touching upon a question of the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, T.Kawai praised the current state of relations in this field. He stressed the importance of signing the Agreement between Japan and Ukraine for Liberalization, Promotion and Protection of Investment, which, in his words, «turns on the green light» for Japanese investment to Ukraine.
During the meeting the sides discussed the current state of Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation in overcoming the consequences of accidents at nuclear power plants. In this connection, the sides expressed satisfaction with the signing of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Japan concerning cooperation to advance aftermath response to accidents at nuclear power stations. T.Kawai also emphasized the importance of cooperation in this field not only at the governmental level but also at the level of non-governmental organizations to support each other and share experiences.
At the end of the meeting T.Kawai expressed the hope that after the completion of diplomatic mission in Japan Ambassador M.Kulinich will continue to contribute to the development of bilateral Japanese-Ukrainian relations.
