Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan Mykola Kulinich had an audience with Crown Prince of Japan Naruhito in imperial palace «Akasaka»

At the beginning of the audience, the Ambassador on behalf of the Government of Ukraine expressed gratitude to Crown Prince Naruhito and all the imperial family for their continued support of Ukraine, particularly in the matter of overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. //
In this context Ambassador thanked Crown Prince Naruhito for his outstanding contribution to the development of Ukrainian-Japanese relations.
During an audience Crown Prince Naruhito and Ambassador M.Kulinich discussed the current state of Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation in overcoming the consequences of accidents at nuclear power plants. In this regard, Crown Prince Naruhito expressed satisfaction with the signing of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Japan concerning cooperation to advance aftermath response to accidents at nuclear power stations. He also expressed gratitude to the Government of Ukraine for the comprehensive and timely assistance in overcoming the consequences of the accident at the nuclear power plant «Fukushima-1».
During an audience Crown Prince Naruhito, who is an honorary member of the World Commission on Water for the 21st century and patron of the Global Water Partnership, separately focused his attention on the issue of water conservation and water cleaning on a global level. In this regard, he expressed interest in learning achievements of Ukrainian scientists in the mentioned area.
