On September 16, 2012, in Tokyo, within the visit of the Head of the Russian Orthodox Church to Japan, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has presented to Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan H.E. M. Kulinich «The Order of the Russian Orthodox Church of Saint Nicholas Equal to the Apostles, Archbishop of Japan» third degree, for personal contribution and assistance in the development of Orthodoxy in Japan.

The orthodox community of Japan, including ukrainian citizens, took participation in ceremony which was held at the church named by Alexander Nevsky.

During the rewarding ceremony Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his gratitude to Head of Ukrainian diplomatic mission M. Kulinich „for significant contribution and personal support in construction of the Orthodox church named by Alexander Nevsky in Tokyo”.
