During the meeting Hanna Hopko expressed gratitude to the Japanese side for constant support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, imposing sanctions against Russia due to military aggression, as well as financial assistance to our country. Hanna Hopko also stressed on the importance of a consolidated position of the G7 on the «Ukrainian issue» during this year's summit chaired by Japan.
Head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Parliament of Ukraine informed the Japanese side of the current situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and eastern regions of Ukraine, emphasizing the constant violation of the Minsk agreements by the Russian side.
The side expressed their common opinion on the need of reforming the Organization of the United Nations to prevent and resolve the international conflicts more effectively. In this regard, Hanna Hopko expressed support for Japan’s aspiration to gain permanent membership in the UN Security Council as one of the results of these reforms.
Nobuo Kishi, in turn, reiterated Japan’s position on the unconditional support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, pointed out the importance of implementation of the Minsk agreements. He also underlined the readiness of the official Tokyo to continue the policy of support of reforms in our country. In this regard, Nobuo Kishi informed of the decision of the Parliament of Japan to provide additional assistance to Ukraine for the restoration of the eastern regions of our country in the amount of about 13.5 million US dollars.
The two sides also stressed on the importance of strengthening cooperation through the «Fukushima-Chernobyl» in order to overcome the consequences of technogenic accidents in both countries.
