On October 1, 2013 a delegation of Nippon Keidanren took part in the Fifth Joint Meeting with the Coordinating Council for Economic Cooperation with Japan at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

The meeting was opened by the Mr Igor PRASOLOV, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. The Ukrainian delegation is comprised of the representatives of the ministries and agencies responsible for economic, industrial and investment policy of Ukraine as well as the representatives of the companies and regions of Ukraine. The Japanese side is represented by 20 big trading and engineering corporations interested in the development of business with Ukraine.

During the meeting the sides discussed the macroeconomic outlook of Ukraine and Japan, improvement of investment climate in Ukraine, regulatory policy and business environment of Ukraine as well as the prospects of signing of the Japan-Ukraine Investment Treaty.

The sides discussed the development of cooperation in such key areas:

- energy and mineral resources,

- energy conservation and renewable energy.

- engineering sector.

- infrastructure.

- agriculture and food industries.

- tourism.

On October 4, 2013 Agreement on Academic Exchange and Memorandum of Understanding between National Technical University of Ukraine “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology were signed in Tokyo.
