On August 24, 2011 Ukrainian singer (coloratura soprano), Tokyo Fujiwara Opera soloist Oksana Stepanyuk won the 1st prize at the 5th Yokohama International Music Competition. Ukrainian singer was singled out among few hundreds of participants from other countries.
After its start in 2007 the Yokohama International Music Competition became a renowned event among the international community and continuously attracts numerous participants from Japan, USA and European countries.
On the day before the Competition, by the Presidential Decree № 845/2011 on August 23, 2011 Oksana Stepanyuk was awarded a title of “Honored Artist of Ukraine” for considerable personal contribution to the improvement of international image of Ukraine, outstanding cultural and educational activity.»
