Ukraine and japan signed Agreement on Space Law Cooperation

On 6 March, 2013 the Cooperation Agreement between International Center For Space Law, Koretsky Institute of State And Law of Ukraine and Center For Space Law, Keio University of  Japan was signed by Deputy Director, Professor Dr. Nataliia MALYSHEVA and Director,  Pofessor Dr. Kinji AKASHI. //

The Agreement provides the systematic exchange of information on recent achievements and perspectives of the national space policy and space-legal systems of Japan and Ukraine; exchange the experience in building the legislative system and regulation approaches to space activities that they possess; conducting joint scientific comparative legal studies in the field of space law etc.

During the signing ceremony the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Japan Mr. Katsuyuki KAWAI pointed out that Ukraine has become the first country with which Japan signed such Agreement.

He also stressed that Ukraine has not only recognized expertise in overcoming the consequences of man-made nuclear accident at Chernobyl NPP and now actively helping the friendly Japanese nation to cope the consequences of the Fukushima-Daiichi accident, but Ukraine is one of the most advanced space-faring nation as well as Ukraine leads in national legislation and capacity building in legal services to emerging space nations.
