On October 16-18, Ukrainian Kimono was presented during World Kimono Project exhibition held at Kyocera Museum of Art in Kyoto.
Ukrainian kimono was prepared within the framework of the "Imagine OneWorld Kimono Project", which aims to create Japanese kimonos with national patterns from different countries in the context of the preparation of the cultural program of the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo. The main motifs of the Ukrainian kimono, which was created in one of the ancient cultural centers of Japan – the City of Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture, are sunflowers, pysankas, storks, as well as the monument to Volodymyr the Great, the Baptist of the Kyivan Rus. The kimono was made by the master of "Kaga Yuzen" technique of silk dying using plant patterns, which is more than 500 years old and is representative of the region of Kaga (Ishikawa Prefecture) - Mr. M.Ota. Japanese belt for kimono "obi" was made in Kyoto by "Nishijin-Maizuru". It took about eight months for the completion of kimono, and three months for the belt.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by Second Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan Ms. Violetta Udovik.
