Currently, 2,500 TEPCO workers as well as subcontractors’ personnel are engaged in the overcoming consequences of last year's accident at Fukushima-1. Cleaning of the sites, decontaminationof facilities, as well as, the restoration of environment is under way. Experts have been executing preparatory measures aimed at removal of spent nuclear fuel from shutdown reactors. Radiation level at the site allows personnel to work safely. Radiation dozes do not exceed permissible indexes.
Minister Baloha, who personally observed the situation at the plant Fukushima NPP, highly evaluated quality of post-accident measures. "This is the work which is extremely difficult when it comes to technical, technological and human aspects. Entire system operates clearly and smoothly. I was particularly impressed by level of concentration and mental resistance of personnel working in dangerous conditions. Ukrainian delegation became confident that all tasks on overcoming accident’s consequences are going to be completed due to not only technological solutions but also thanks to great stamina and focus of mind that reigns at NPP site. This really overwhelmed us. All professionals working at Fukushima Daiichi NPP are concentrated on ultimate objective and firmly believe that they will eventually cope with all challenges, "- Viktor Baloha reiterated.
