On March 14 the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan held an opening of the exhibition of manga paintings with images of the Ukrainian military made by the Japanese artist Ms. Natsume and a presentation of the short film "Dyakuyu".
The event was opened by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan Dr. Ihor Kharchenko. In his greetings in Japanese, the Ambassador noted that this event was a continuation of the Year of Japan in Ukraine which was announced in 2017. The Ambassador of Ukraine emphasized the importance of strengthening friendly ties between the two peoples and expressed his hope for further deepening of the interest of the Japanese citizens in Ukraine.
The presentation was also attended by the representative of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine Ms. Marina Sobotyuk and the Japanese artist Ms. Natsume who shared her impressions of Ukraine, noting that it is a country that harmoniously combines nature and urban architecture. Regarding her paintings, the artist said that she tried to express how courageous Ukrainian warriors are and show at the same time their desire for peace and harmony.
During the latter part of the event the Embassy presented the short film "Dyakuyu". The Ministry of Information Policy produced this movie in order to popularize Ukraine in the world. Its main hero is a Japanese who among his adventures discovers a truly hospitable and touristic Ukraine. The representative of the Ministry on this matter: "We wanted to demonstrate a friendly attitude to all who visit our country. And the protagonist is a Japanese, because Japan supports Ukraine and we feel it. "
