On the first day of his visit Mr. Sergiy Kyslytsya met with State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Mr. Kazuyuki Nakane.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation’s issues, stressed on the high level of the current political dialogue between two states and the successful holding of «The Year of Japan in Ukraine».
Mr. Sergiy Kyslytsya expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan for the consistent support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, in particular in the framework of G7, as well as financial and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, active support of sweeping reforms in our country.
Mr. Kazuyuki Nakane, in his turn, confirmed the readiness of the Government of Japan to continue the abovementioned policy of supporting Ukraine.
Later in the day, during the meeting between Mr. Sergiy Kislytsya and Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Ambassador in charge of UN Affairs and Cyber Policy Mr. Masato Ohtaka, the two sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between our countries in the United Nations, in particular in the framework of the non-permanent memberships of Ukraine and Japan in the UN Security Council.
During a conversation between Mr. Sergiy Kislytsya and Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Mr. Iwao Horii at the reception hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan on the occasion of the opening of the 68th session of the UN University Council in Tokyo the two sides confirmed the importance of consolidation of the United Nations’ role in supporting the global security and strengthening the international legal order.
