On April 24, 2010 in the «Bunkyo Civik Hall» in Tokyo the meeting dedicated to the 24th anniversary of Chornobyl catastrophe was held. The above event was organized by the Chornobyl Children Foundation (Japan) with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan.
Ambassador of Ukraine in Japan Mykola Kulinich addressed those, who attended the event and said that despite 24 years have passed, the disaster impact has not disappeared and there are still a lot of Ukrainian families, especially children, who suffer from it. Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Chornobyl Children Foundation for its continuous help and stressed that humankind should make all possible efforts in order to avoid such a tragedy in future.
Mari Sasaki, executive representative of the Chornobyl Children Foundation, rendered a report concerning Foundation activity in 2009-2010. Among others she introduced attendees the present situation with the incidence rate among the second generation of children, suffering from the Chornobyl disaster impact and the aid provided to them by the Foundation.
Prominent Japanese singers and musicians as well as famous Ukrainian singer and Bandura player Okasana Stepanyuk, who is a winner of numerous international music competitions, took part in a charity concert which was organized as a part of the event
Proceeds from the event will be used for the further aid to children, suffering from the Chornobyl catastrophe.
