On Monday, March 30, the Government of Ukraine signed an agreement with the Government of Japan on joint projects aimed at restoring the eastern regions of Ukraine, combating corruption, developing medical facilities, and signed a memorandum of understanding with the WNISEF Fund for joint development of Ukrainian business sector.
According to the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Japan, Ukraine receives a non-project grant aid worth 500 million yen for the provision of special equipment in order to recover the eastern regions of Ukraine, as well as the purchase of special equipment for medical centers and research institutions.
In addition, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, President of the WNISEF and Chairman of the USAID Mission in Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding that will allow the launch of a USD30 million program of technical support in the near future. The program provides assistance for the development of Ukrainian exports, support for socially responsible businesses that create jobs for refugees, ATO veterans and other vulnerable segments of the population.
Funds will also be used for training young Ukrainian managers and developing public-private partnership.
"Now our country is actively changing and we are able to implement the best, most advanced, most proven management practices," Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius emphasized following the signing of the document.
