On March 1, 2011 a Press-conference of Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan Mykola Kulinich «The main achievements and results of the first year of Viktor Yanukovych's presidency» was held for journalists of the Japan's most influential mass-media. In particular, there were journalists and correspondents of the world highest circulation newspaper - «The Yomiuri Shimbun», newspapers «The Asahi Shimbun», «The Mainichi Shimbun», «The Sankei Shimbun», «The Tokyo Shimbun», economic newspaper «Nikkei Keizai Shimbun», news agencies «Kyodo News» and «Jiji Press».
During the meeting, the Ambassador told about the main results and achievements of the first year of Viktor Yanukovych's presidency, the main principles of foreign and internal policy of Ukraine, the economic aspects of development, the implementation of structural reforms and the major perspectives and priorities of the President's activity.
Special attention was paid to the results of the Head of State official visit to Japan, the analysis of bilateral cooperation in political, economic, science-technology and humanitarian spheres, the priorities of bilateral cooperation for the current year were outlined as well.
During the discussion, journalists raised questions about some aspects of the political situation in the country, the support of the government, headed by the President, by citizens of Ukraine, peculiarities of the implementation of key reforms, prospects of Ukraine's accession to the EU, relations with Russia and neighboring countries, combating corruption in the country, liberalization of the business and investment climate etc.
