The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly condemns so-called "elections” in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol organized by the Russian Federation on September 14. The Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol were, are and will remain an integral part of an independent Ukraine, where the Constitution and laws of Ukraine are in force.
The so-called "elections", which were arranged by the Russian Federation on the territory of our state, are illegitimate, and their results are null and void and will not have any legal consequences for the current status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol within internationally recognized borders of Ukraine.
Everyone who organized and held these "elections" will be held accountable in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine.
We call upon international community to condemn Russia’s conduction of illegitimate "elections" in the Autonomous Republic of Crime and Sevastopol.
We call the international community to condemn so called “elections” held by the Russian Federation in the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. We also expect that the civilized world will give a proper assessment to illegal actions of the Russian occupation authorities which continue harassment, discrimination and repressions against the Crimean Tatars, Ukrainians and representatives of other nationalities who have not reconciled and will never reconcile with the occupation of the Crimea. Today, there are lots of evidence and testimonies that confirm Russia’s violations of its international commitments in the realm of human rights, for which it will have to bear responsibility.
