Ukraine commemorates the 28th anniversary of the disaster at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant on April 26. //
On April 26, 1986, a series of powerful explosions destroyed the fourth reactor of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. This event was classified according to the international scale of nuclear incidents as an accident of the seventh, highest level of severity.
Now work is underway at the site of the Chornobyl NPP to construct a new safe confinement - a defensive structure that includes a complex of technological equipment for the removal from the destroyed reactor of the materials containing nuclear fuel. This system is designed to convert this unit into an ecologically safe system and ensure the security of personnel, population and environment.
