Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says his government will consider financial support to help Ukraine toward a peaceful resolution of its ongoing crisis.
Abe spoke at the Upper House Budget Committee on Wednesday. He said that improving Ukraine's economic situation is important for a peaceful resolution of the crisis. He said dialogue and transparency to ease tensions are also needed.
Abe said Japan hopes to contribute in cooperation with other countries, such as the Group of Seven industrialized nations.
He said his government will study specific support measures on the basis of discussions between the International Monetary Fund and Ukraine.
