On December 6, 2013 the Third Meeting of the joint Ukraine-Japan Commission for Science and Technology Cooperation was held in Kyiv.
The Ukrainian side was presented by State Agency on Science, Innovation and Informatization of Ukraine, State Fund of Fundamental Research, representatives from research universities and institutes. From the Japanese side were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine, representatives of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
The participants noted that Ukraine and Japan have strong potential in the field of science and technology, and combining efforts both countries have a chance to achieve significant success and make a great contribution to science`s developing. An example of successful cooperation, in particular, there is cooperation of scientists of Ukraine and Japan in the projects Bell II and nanostructural Ceramics.
During the meeting the Memorandum of Understanding and scientific cooperation between the State Fund of Fundamental Research of Ukraine (SFFR) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) was signed. In addition, the protocol on implementation of the joint program, which provides grant support to the bilateral research projects for 2 years was signed.
