On March 4, 2014 a Press-conference of Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan Ihor Kharchenko on Russia act of military aggression toward Ukraine was held for journalists of the Japan's most influential mass-media.

In particular, there were journalists and correspondents of the leading newspapers - «The Yomiuri Shimbun», «The Asahi Shimbun», «The Mainichi Shimbun», «The Sankei Shimbun», «The Tokyo Shimbun», economic newspaper «Nikkei Keizai Shimbun», news agencies «Kyodo News» and «Jiji Press», TV companies NHK and TBS.




  ハルチェンコ大使は「ウクライナの国民の自由が危険にさらされている」と述べた上で、「ロシア側の説明は嘘ばかりだ」と厳しく非難しました。また、クリミ ア半島でロシア軍が活動していることについて、「両国が結んでいる軍事協定の明らかな侵害で、異常な状態だ」と指摘しました。その上で「EUなど国際社会 の支援も受け、解決していきたい」と述べました。

 一方、クリミア自治共和国で独立の是非を問う住民投票が予定されていることについ て、「住民投票は中央政府の元で行われるもので、独立をめぐる住民投票は違法」と切り捨てました。さらに、「自分の認識では現地のロシア系住民は4割程度 でマイノリティ。ロシア国旗を掲げた映像などはロシアのプロパガンダ」と述べました。
